Facebook ‘DIY’

So this post is coming from a curiosity about something I saw on Facebook. It was a home remedies video from a lady and she had a few different DIY’s in the video. The one that caught my eye was she put Pepto Bismol on her nose, I couldn’t tell whether it was for blackheads or pores, but her nose did look clearer in the after shot. i thought that would be awesome if it really worked. I mean, who doesn’t have Pepto sitting around? All she did was ‘paint’ Pepto onto her nose and let it dry, then rinsed.

Well, I decided to try it tonight. I HATE the smell of Pepto, but I figured if it worked then I’d deal with it. I was a little nervous to try it because a few comments I read about the Pepto hack mentioned staining your face and my face is already red enough.

I ran my bottle of Pepto under warm water to warm the Pepto up before I applied it to my face. This is optional but I thought it might help. I applied the Pepto to my nose and cheeks, since I didn’t know if it was intended to get rid of blackheads or shrink pores. My nose is awful for blackheads and my cheeks have really big pores.

Wet pepto

I know everything on Facebook is supposed to be true, but this did nothing for either problems. It did however totally leave my cheeks/nose feeling super soft and tightened. I don’t know if this is something you need to do more than once or what, but after one use it did nothing for my skin. However, it also didn’t stain or leave my skin smelling like pepto bismol (yay!).

Where did 2016 go??

I can’t believe it’s 2017… THAT’S CRAZY! Anyway, I’m totally slacking on my posts, but I have tons of posts to write and luckily, I’ll have more time to write them!

So, 2016 kind of sucked for me. I began the year by getting terrible medical news, being more broke than I’ve ever been, losing the one person I thought I’d never lose, and having my world turned upside down.. The break up left me feeling more alone and empty than i have ever felt in my life. I’m sure anyone who has had their heart broken knows the feeling of your heart actually hurting, when you can actually feel it “breaking”.. and maybe you can relate to feeling like a part of you is gone, feeling so empty it hurts… Yeah, that’s the worst feeling.

But like all things, there is a positive side in this situation. Although I had to lose someone I thought was the love of my life, someone that brought out the best in me, and someone that I would have done anything and everything in the world for, I learned a lot. Looking back on my posts when we were fighting or when I just felt so crappy I had to let it all out, I realized I should have never let myself feel like that with someone. Was it his fault? Was it mine? Probably a little of both. Four years is a long time to spend with someone and when it starts in high school, you both have a lot of growing to do. For me, I would have been fine to grow together, learn together and even fight together to make it through the tough times. (I feel like your 20’s are the ‘puberty’ of growing up, you don’t really know what’s going on, everything’s changing.. seems like an accurate comparison.) Anyway, he didn’t want to work it out anymore. We fought a lot, I don’t blame him for giving up. I wanted to give up more times than I should have in a relationship, but I just didn’t want things to change. I hate change. He was my best friend, my boyfriend, my everything and he just left. I was angry, I was upset, I was sad and everything in between. As much as it hurts and sucks, he was a great guy. He’ll make someone a great husband someday (even if he isn’t a handyman) and he’ll make an even better dad. I wish the best for him, especially for him to be happy, even if it isn’t with me because he truly does deserve it.

Now that I’ve had some time to get over it (not completely, I doubt that’ll ever really happen), I’ve realized a lot. I’ve grown as a person and became stronger than I ever thought I was. I still have so much to learn about myself and who I am before I could ever let someone into my life like that again, but hopefully next time it’ll have a different outcome. I have so much to learn and work on with myself and this break up finally gave me the wake up call I needed. As cliché as it sounds, I have to love myself before anyone else can love me, and that’s where I need to start.

For 2017, besides the usual ‘get my ass in shape’ resolution, I’m working on myself… physically, emotionally, mentally. I know the ‘new year, new me’ line is so BS but I hope that’s the outcome for me. I need to figure out so much about myself and I think this is more important than any other resolution I could make. Everyone talks about treating your body like a temple because you only have one but they usually only think physically, and that’s important too, but people forget about mental and emotional ‘temples’ too.

Maybe it’s me..

How do you ever know if what you’re fighting to keep is worth keeping? If you have to try so hard to make yourself happy in the relationship, should you keep trying? What if they were once the only person who could make your day 100% better? If they made you feel so incredible, the happiest you’ve ever been in your whole life? Why does a love so amazing fizz out?

I ask myself these “what if” questions more and more frequently… Maybe that should be my sign, but I can’t just give up. Four years of being with someone I could see myself marrying, someone who I used to have no doubt would put my happiness before his own, someone who would do anything for me… I used to feel on top of the world with him, and now I’m lucky to feel like I’m on a step stool.. Maybe I’m too selfish. Maybe I’m too hard to deal with. Maybe it’s me… I’m hard to deal with, I know that. I’m anxious, I’m stressed, I’m used to getting my way all the time, I have my own problems. Maybe I’m expecting too much. Maybe I’m waiting for a fairytale, that doesn’t exist. I know things aren’t like when we first fell in love, we’re not in high school, we have jobs. But is it really too much to ask for the same in return?

I do so many little things to try to get him to notice… Never notices a thing. I have a same day surgery tomorrow (my first surgery and one of my biggest fears, not that he would ever know that), and I know he has things on his mind, but instead of getting drunk tonight I thought he would appreciate how nervous I am for the morning but no. He has friends over, drinking some beer, hasn’t even talked to me about my surgery… I made sloppy joes and mac & cheese, hoping he would come home and realize that I made food HE loves even though it’s not one of my top 50 choices, but he didn’t.. It’s in the trash. Maybe I’m just selfish.

I just wish I had more faith in him being at the hospital with me facing my biggest fear, but I’m a big girl right? I can do it all alone..

I like to think of myself as a girl, or well a woman, who doesn’t need constant reminders or reassurance that she is loved and needed. I like to think of myself as someone who is calm, trusting, and understanding of her significant other’s own life… For the most part, I think I have achieved this. I get needy sometimes, jealous, and lets be honest sometimes I think I just get mad to be mad.

Though recently I have realized, and by recently I mean now as I’m writing this post, I do need reminders. I need reminders to know that I’m on your mind when we aren’t together. I need reminders to know that you appreciate me and actually noticed the things I do for you or around the house. I don’t want you to spend all your personal time texting, tweeting, snapchating (or even worse calling) me to say “I miss you”, but sometimes when I’m not expecting it, I need it. I don’t want anyone getting the wrong idea, I don’t need gifts or long, sappy Facebook posts confessing your love and appreciation for me, but just getting things done around the house before I come home or simply asking about my day can remind me.

I say this because stress gets the best of everyone sometimes. Stress about money, stress from work, stress from school, stress comes from everything in our daily lives basically and it’s easy to forget that sometimes we all need a “thank you”, whether it’s written on a sticky note stuck to a coffee, or a silly #WCW Instagram post. Sometimes we all need a reminder.

(notice he says how childish he is, and then goes on to say “sweatergawd”..)

Dear future husband…

“Here’s a few things you’ll need to know if you wanna be my one and only all my life…”
Thank you Meghan Trainor for releasing a song that describes some, if not the majority, of the things most women want from their boyfriend/fiancé/or current husband. Granted this is just a song and it is not meant to be something to base your relationship on, but the more I listen to the song, (why does the song have to be so catchy?) I think about what I would want my future husband to know, before he takes one knee.

  • I’m not always right, but I’ll act like I am. Don’t just agree with me.
  • I’m not huge on PDA. I’m not going to have a make out session with you on the mall bench. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to hold your hand, wrap our arms around each other and exchange an occasional kiss.
  • Call me crazy, but I don’t need or want to have sex with you every time we have time to spare.
  • SUPPORT ME. I change my mind about everything. Do your best to lead me in the best direction and just support me.
  • Spend time with me. We don’t have to go to 5 Star restaurants or anywhere at all, but I need to feel like you want to be around me. I’m not an independent person, I don’t like to spend all my time alone.. I’ll go crazy left alone with my own thoughts.
  • Don’t ever call me names or raise your voice at me. Ever.
  • Know that I’ll go above and beyond to do things for you and to keep you happy. If I ask you to do something for me, don’t act like it kills you.
  • I have insecurities, don’t point them out for me.
  • Don’t be lazy. Lazy days are okay, but when it’s 6 out of 7 days a week, I can’t deal with that. If that’s you, then we can’t work out.

At the beginning of this article, you probably thought I was just going to praise Meghan Trainor’s song, didn’t you?

Anywho, this is just a little something that’s been on my mind lately.
